NO GODS NO MASTERS SERIES: SHIP & ANCHOR
The Ship has been a Calgary institution for over 34 years, one of those rare and beloved places that truly earns the “The” before its name. Known for leading the industry with its values-driven approach, @shipandanchorpub prioritizes principles over profit. This values-first philosophy is reflected in its commitment to staff development, promoting from within rather than hiring externally. As a result, nearly 20 employees have been with The Ship for over a decade.
The Ship offers a diverse range of programming, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The Ship Stage has hosted thousands of bands and performers, building a legacy of its own. Accessibility is a key value, with The Ship never charging cover for its shows. It’s not uncommon for larger bands, who could easily sell out bigger venues, to choose The Ship for its intimate and iconic atmosphere.
Ship and Anchor’s commitment to the Calgary community goes beyond entertainment. They host numerous charitable initiatives throughout the year, most notably their annual Ship Nog fundraiser, which has raised over $400k for local charities. The Ship is also a strong supporter of the Alberta beer industry, with 24 full-time taps dedicated to Alberta breweries and seven rotating taps featuring primarily local beers.
We could list countless reasons why The Ship is great for Calgary, but we’ll let you experience it for yourself when we see you there
