NO GODS NO MASTERS SERIES: NICK’S STEAKHOUSE
Walking into Nick’s feels like stepping into a Calgary time capsule, where the walls are adorned with memorabilia and timeless 70’s decor that reflects their dedication to the city’s heritage over the past four decades. Founded in 1979, @nickssteakhouse is located on Crowchild Trail across from McMahon Stadium and has been a beloved local fixture for generations. Originally opened by the legendary Nick Petros, it continues to be a family-run establishment that honours the spirit of Calgary.
Nick’s journey in hospitality began long before he opened the restaurant. As a server at Hy’s Steakhouse, he formed connections with locals who would later become lifelong customers and friends. When he opened the business on Crowchild, his vision was to revitalize the space with genuine Western hospitality, a goal that was greatly supported by the Calgary community during those early years. This encouragement inspired Nick’s Steakhouse to adopt a strong ethos of giving back to the city through the Tim Petros Memorial Scholarship at the U of C, the Nick’s Oval Speed Skating bursary, their Giving Pizza initiative, and donations to various local organizations.
Beyond charity, Nick’s is a pillar of the community, employing over 60 people and supporting local businesses with an all-local draught beer lineup and a commitment to sourcing from local suppliers. As a Calgary staple for decades, it’s easy to see why people keep coming back.
